  I was also sick of hearing about how the peole of the world were all so bad and worthy of destruction. Bad association, evil doers, lovers of evil and money. Come to find out that the world is full of great, wonderful, kind people who just have a bad day every once in a while. Like we all do.

  Education is so bad but when a JW has a heart attack or cancer they sure to run to those educated doctors quick enough. I am sure they are glad that some good people sacrificed their free time to educate themselves in the art of healing and helping.

  The UN Thing

  i would like to pick the brains of those in the know..... so i am kinda preparing for the big conversation with my mom, but i am not being brave about it - i have unplugged my phone, just in case she tries to call me tonight.

  what i am looking for is a bit of advice on the un thing... i have read the un letter, and i have found the jw spin in response.

  what would be a suitable rebuttal for their spin on why they were members?

  One of the things that bothered me was that fact that they were required to publish information about the UN and its activities as part of their contract. In the 80s we were all told the wild beast of Revelation was the UN (god's enemy). When articles were being published in the Awake and Watchtower regarding the wonderful humanitarian work being done through the UN I was puzzled. I didn’t understand how God would consider this organization its enemy when they were trying to feed and clothe the poor the best they knew how in a godless world. At the time I did not know about their alliance with the UN.

  If the WTBS was providing humanitarian resources via the UN, then I could at least in my heart understand their reasons for such an alliance. But to lie to the congregations, and allow and encourage innocent people in other countries to suffer and die over the non-issuance of a political card is reprehensible. I can never go back with what I know now.

  Babies get shunned

  my sister was recently disfellowshipped and she told me that she was eating in a restaurant yesterday when the elder that disfellowshipped her was seated at the table next to her.

  of course they would not breathe a word to her.

  but her son (4 years old) had kept saying hello over and over to the elder and his wife and they both refused to acknowledge him, smile of even say hello back.

  My sister was recently disfellowshipped and she told me that she was eating in a restaurant yesterday when the elder that disfellowshipped her was seated at the table next to her. Of course they would not breathe a word to her. But her son (4 years old) had kept saying hello over and over to the elder and his wife and they both refused to acknowledge him, smile of even say hello back. Is a disfellowshipping and shunning extended to the innocent child as well?

  Its days like these that I know I did the right thing when I left.

  she cracks me up though.

  she and her husband split up after 7 years of marriage and she started dating a guy that she met at a tikki hut bar.

  The last remaining one in my family is now out. She cracks me up though. She and her husband split up after 7 years of marriage and she started dating a guy that she met at a tikki hut bar. Her husband was also dating another woman. She called the elder in the congregation and told him that she was committing adultry and to go ahead and disfellowship her. The elder started asking her pointed/details questions about her infidelity and she told him, 'none of your business' and then he said OK. (what a pervert these elders are) He then called her back and told her that she had 7 days to think about it.

  She said she absolutly, positively knows, without a doubt that this is not a christian based religion. There was no love, no consoling after her husband left her with 2 kids. She had repeatedly asked the elders to help with her martial problems (before and after the separation) and their answer was basically that she needed to spread her legs for her husband more often to keep him from straying.

  Anyway, I asked her why not just fade out but her answer was, she did not want to play games. She knew that if she got disfellowshipped that no one would bother her and thats what she wants because when you are disfellowshipped, congregation members are forbidden to visit with you or talk to you. She's a pretty smart cookie.

  Infected tooth

  last night i experienced an ever increasing sensitivity and pain in a tooth and eventually even touching it with my tongue felt painful.

  the gum next to it was also beginning to feel numb and swollen so i realised it must be some sort of infection in the root of the tooth.

  it was vital to act fast because this kind of infection can spread fast and cause great pain and perhaps a loss of the tooth so first thing in the morning i went to the dentist, he decided it was a root infection and told me to try antibiotics and if they don't work he would do a root treatment.

  I had a similar problem where I had an infection under a crown. I made an appointment but the pain was so severe that at 8:00 a.m. the next morning I was on the doorstep of my dentist office waiting for him. I was taking some pain killers leftover from a previous back injury but the infection pain was increasing and eventually the pain medication was too weak to handle it.

  They sent me over to a peridontist because apparently the root canal that I had 7 years prior had a unidentified 4th root which was housing the infection. He was wonderful because not only did he fix the root problem but he also managed both the pain and the infection.

  I found that some doctors and dentist are afraid of drug seekers and hesitate to prescribe medicine for the pain. My dentist would not prescribe me any pain killers whereas the peridontist did.

  I hate my dentist because it was obvious I was in pain as I was crying and drooling. They were going to send me home with antibiotics only and reschedule me. I told them that if I did not have this taken care of today then I was going to get me a bottle of Jack Daniels and a pair of pliers and take care of it myself.

  Hence the peridontist.

  I feel your pain.

  but how much is raked in for conventions?.

  what happens to surplus money?.

  Assembly Hall shakedown - Columbia SC

  from someone who attended:.

  there was a big elders meeting in columbia sc on saturday june 9.. around 240 congregations, 2000+ elders.. the society wants to build a brand new assembly hall in columbia, sc, to handle the huge influx of jws moving to the us southeast from up north.. they expect to have it done in 34 months (finished by april 2010).

  total cost estimated to be approximately $8 - 9 million.. they want to have the whole thing paid for by the time the building is done - no long term loans.. they "strongly suggested" that each of the 240 congregations commit to supporting "their share" of the expense.

  I was always amazed at how much it cost to use the Salisbury hall for circuit assemblies and special days.

  Thats because a donation of $5,000 was set aside for WTBS headquarters up front. Our assemblies generally ran about $7,000 but $5,000 was set aside. I wonder how much they rake in at the District Conventions.

  Do you have a favourite product you use?

  i have a couple of favourites i'll share with you.. first is pure coconut oil for my hands.

  at room temperature it is a solid, so i have to immerse the pump container in a mug of hot water for about 5 minutes before i use it.

  it's wonderfully warm when i massage it into my hands, and leaves them silky soft!

  and armageddon is not here yet.

  in fact, i passed several churches of the catholic and protestent denominations.

  and i thought that those churches were supposed to be destroyed before the great tribulation which was supposed to culminate in armageddon.

  recently i read a thread about a speaker at a special assembly announcing that this scripture had possibly been fulfilled.

  cant remember his name.

  now since this speaker was making this announcement on his own accord, what form of discipline was metted out to him?
